The 2017 Fulbright Junior Faculty Development Program for Tunisia
Date de création: 23 Dec 2016

U.S. Embassy, Tunis

Announces

The 2017 Fulbright Junior Faculty Development Program for Tunisia

July 5 – September 13, 2017

The 2017 Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program for Tunisia will bring one cohort of six junior Tunisian scholars to a U.S. institution from July 5 through September 13, 2017 for faculty development, mentoring, and cultural exchange activities. The Fulbright Junior Faculty Development Program aims to provide educational exchange experiences to a maximum number of Tunisian academics not previously afforded a professional development opportunity in the United States. Fulbright grantees serve as cultural ambassadors and should be prepared to speak about their countries, cultures and research to academic and community groups.

The 2017 cohort will focus on Information Technology and Computer Science.  The group of six junior scholars will spend 10 weeks at selected U.S. host institutions, where they will be introduced to new teaching and research methods, observe classes, attend seminars, and develop linkages with American faculty through weekly mentoring sessions.  While introduction to new research methods in the scholars’ disciplines does constitute one component of the Fulbright Junior Faculty Development Program for Tunisia, the program is not intended to provide a venue for individual research projects.

Objectives:

·      Build higher education capacity in the Tunisia through faculty development and mentoring for junior scholars;

·      Foster long-term collaboration and institutional linkages between Tunisian scholars and American academics;

·      Promote mutual understanding between Tunisian and Americans by facilitating the scholars’ engagement with the broader host campus community.
